4x4 Tips - Handy Info to Help You Have Great
4x4 Off-Road Adventures!
Welcome to 4x4 Tips.com!
Have you ever been bogged in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from the nearest help?
Have you ever had an "Oh Sh%^&!" moment, when you've nearly crashed your 4x4?
Have you ever felt a little overwhelmed when trying to choose the right tires or accessories for your 4x4?
I can say yes to all of those, but I want to help other people avoid getting into the same situations.
Of course I can't say you'll never get bogged (I'm sure I will get bogged again sometime...) but I reckon I've got some handy 4x4 tips that will:
- Help you get bogged less often, and get you unbogged more easily.
- Make your driving safer, and reduce the risk of getting lost or breaking down.
- Save you money by identifying the parts and accessories that you really need, amongst the thousands in the shops and on E-Bay.
- Help you look after your 4x4 and keep it running for longer, with lower maintenance costs and improved gas mileage.
Driving your 4x4 off-road can be an awesome adventure, a fantastic combination of exploration, discovery, nature appreciation and a driving challenge, sometimes with a little bit of adrenaline thrown in for good measure! It can give you a great sense of satisfaction when you get to the top of that sand dune, or see a magnificent sunset in a pristine wilderness area, hundreds of miles from civilisation.
But when you're just starting out there is a lot to learn. When I started out I had a lot of unanswered questions and I came across a lot of conflicting information. And there were some things that I just plain didn't know about! That's why I started 4x4 Tips.com - to help other people have great 4x4 adventures!

4x4 Product Reviews It's difficult to find out what a product is really like until you've spent your hard earned money. That's why I've created this 4x4 product review section. Every item reviewed has been long term tested, by myself, in the tough Aussie Outback. How well does it perform it's intended function? Does it meet or exceed the minimum expectation? Is it well made and will it last? Is it easy to use? Does it provide good value for money? These questions and more are covered in every review.

Gas Mileage Tips Everyone wants to get the best mpg possible, and understandably so. There are a few gas saving tips which I've heard many times (run higher tire pressures, wind windows up etc.), and I'm sure you've heard them before as well, so I won't repeat them here. This section has some gas saving tips which I think most people haven't heard before. Some of these are specific to 4x4s, and some apply to all vehicles.

Australian Desert Safety The Australian desert is a unique and beautiful environment. It can also be an extreme, hostile environment. High temperatures, scarcity of water and the large distances involved make Australian deserts potentially dangerous, especially for the unprepared. Don't let that put you off though. Exploring Australia's deserts is not beyond the capability of normal 4x4 enthusiasts, provided they have the right equipment and adequate preparation.
